Tower Garden Aeroponic Technology
The Tower Garden® product is a patented vertical aeroponic technology. It has been designed for decades of use! The Tower Garden® is made from food grade plastic (PVC) and free of harmful components commonly found in today’s agriculture grade plastics. The PVC is completely opaque, which keeps all the sunlight out (inhibiting algae growth) and is several times thicker than almost all hydroponic products available in the market. It is also UV stabilized for outdoor protection. Most white plastics degrade quickly over time, due to the UV radiation tending to break down from inside out. However, not the Tower Garden!
The Tower Garden® has a 20 gallon reservoir at its base. This reservoir stores the water with the Aeroponic Power-Gro ionic mineral nutrient solution. Inside the reservoir is a small, low wattage submersible pump which draws the nutrient solution up through the center all the way to the top of the Tower Garden® From there the water with the nutrient solution drips through a special device at the top of the tower that evenly cascades the solution over the plant roots. As it travels down the tower, the nutrient solution feeds the plants’ roots and becomes highly oxygenated as it travels back down to the reservoir. This process is continually repeated, providing nutrients, water, and fresh oxygen to the roots of the plants. The continuum is managed with timers. The seedling plants for the Tower Garden® are started in natural rock wool fiber seedling cubes. After they germinate, the cubes are exposed to full light for a week or two and then placed in the plant ports of the tower as hardy seedlings. Due to the design of the Garden Tower® system, the plants grow faster than they would in soil and need to be harvested often. The towers can be lined up in double rows, which can create from 120,000 to 250,000 plants per acre!
